There are a half-dozen classic electric guitar tones every guitarist's rig must be able to emulate. Carondelet Sessioners are how players bring all six core tones to the show, the fly gig, the session, while carrying only one guitar.

Sessioners in raw form are vintage warm and sparkly voiced alnico humbuckers in HH mode. The duet's secret weapon, however, are the coils and how each coil relates to its counterparts; and how each pickup is magnetized.

Sessioners' screw coils are very similar to Carondelet SPA-90s, our classic Gibson P-90 footprint squeezed into half the normal footprint.

Instead of using magnetized steel in the slug coils, Sessioners' "slugs" are actual alnico rod magnets, akin to what's used in Fender single coil pickups. The slug coils are also wound to mimic traditional Fender single coil output and voicing. This creates some of the most authentically S- and T- sounding tones in the market when the humbuckers are wired for coil splitting.

Put more simply:

  • The neck pickup (7.5h) sounds like a LP or SG style Gibson in H mode (11.8KDCR), or a classic Strat (6.0K) when split to slug coil only.
  • The bridge pickup (8.3h) sounds like a LP or a SG in H mode (14.8K), or a classic Tele (7.8K) when split to slug.
  • HH together sounds like an ES style Gibson, and both pickups together and split delivers the tasty two-Fender-singles tones one finds in country, R&B and funk.

DELIVERY TIMES: Most Carondelet pickups are wound and assembled by hand, one at a time. Due to speed limitations in the hand-crafted process and overall demand, lead times for Carondelet pickups typically range from two to four weeks.
